Groundwater investigation
- The Department conducts systematic hydro-geological investigation in order to scientifically assess the availability of groundwater and feasibility of well construction in a particular area for a specified purpose or for domestic and water supply schemes.
- The department is equipped with Groundwater Prospects Map, Mapping devices, Resistivity meters, GPS and GIS software etc. for field studies.
- The department also provides technical advice to site specific solution to artificial groundwater recharging projects to institutions and individuals free of cost.
Drilling
- The department undertakes drilling of bore wells/tube wells and filter point wells for domestic, irrigation, industrial purpose and infrastructure projects.
- 50% subsidy will be granted for marginal/ small scale farmers for bore well drilling.
- The Department also provides technical guidance for site specific solution to artificial groundwater recharging projects to institutions and individuals at free of cost.
Pumping / Yield test of wells
- The Department provides yield testing of wells to industrial, infrastructure projects and also for individuals and public water supply schemes.
Water Quality Analysis
- The physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters of water samples are tested in the regional water quality labs established in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode Districts.
- Provides remedial measures to improve water quality to public.
Mass awareness Programmes
- Mass Awareness Programmes on groundwater management and conservation to public, students, Government officials and people’s representatives of various local self bodies, using Department funds.
- Conducts trainings and workshops
Research Facilities
- Aquifer information through geological and geo-physical surveys, drilling of bore holes, monitoring of water levels and water quality assessments from observation well network in each district are available .
- The water level and water quality data are offered on Pricing Policy but researchers are eligible to avail fifty percent discount.
- Students from the research institutes, colleges and individuals can be a part of hydrologic data user group (HDUG) and avail water level and water quality data from the district centers for their research studies
